Welcome to 2024, Dear Educational Stakeholders (Proprietors, Managers, Teachers, Consultants, Parents, and Learners) of the private educational community. Reflecting upon the challenges of the past year, 2023, we acknowledge that it has not been an easy journey. However, with gratitude for the boundless mercy of God/Allah, we find ourselves standing at the threshold of a new year. Let us embrace the opportunities it brings, united in our commitment to providing quality education and nurturing the growth of our learners. Wishing everyone a prosperous 2024.
Reflecting on 2023: A Year of Growth and Development
In 2023, GNACOPS actively engaged in various initiatives aimed at fostering educational leadership, compliance, and quality standards within our private school community. Some notable activities include:
MINISTRY OF FINANCE SUPPORTS FOR PRIVATE SCHOOL STAKEHOLDERS.
GNACOPS-Delivered Trainings:
- Educational Leadership Training for 800 Owners/Heads:
Through the support of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) GNACOPS developed a specialized Educational Leadership Training content and trained 800 School Owners and Heads. This programme delved into strategic leadership, management skills, and visionary approaches designed uniquely to curb the challenges faced by private educational leaders.
- Common Core Programme (CCP) Training for 500 Teachers:
Acknowledging the key role of teachers in shaping the educational landscape, GNACOPS conducted the Common Core Programme (CCP) Training with financial support from the Ministry of Finance. This initiative aimed to equip the Private School Teachers with innovative teaching methodologies aligned with global standards.
GNACOPS, MoF, UCC Teacher Professional Development Collaboration
- 1-Year Certificate in Education for Non-professional Private School Teachers:
Through this collaboration, the University of Cape Coast (UCC) played a crucial role by training over 1500 non-professional private school teachers and was awarded a 1-year Certificate in Education.
- 1-Year Top-up for Teachers with Diploma, for a Degree:
UCC extended this unique opportunity to train 1405 private school teachers who were holding a diploma in Education to upgrade their qualifications with a 1-year top-up programme, leading to the attainment of a degree in Education.
- 1-Year Post Graduate Diploma in Education for non-professional Degree Teachers:
Recognizing the importance of advancing the skills of these degree-holders from various fields of studies, UCC offered a 1-year Post Graduate Diploma in Education to 689 non-professional Degree Teachers
- 6-Month Certificate in Educational Administration for Heads and Administrators:
UCC provided a targeted Certificate in Educational Administration, specifically developed for 243 Private School Heads and Administrators.
EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT AT BUNSO
A 5-day summit held for 245 School Owners, Heads, and Regulators offered a collaborative environment for sharing insights and strategies under the theme: Building A Resilient and Innovative School Leaders for Sustainable Development, where educational actors and regulators met, discussed and resolved new ways of sustaining private education in Ghana.
LABOUR RELATED LAWS WORKSHOPS
Over 4634 School Owners, Heads, Administrators, and Teachers (both public and private schools) were trained on Labour Related Laws in Education in the Upper West region and Greater Accra region, certificate of participation were issued to build the portfolio of the participants which were authenticated by the National Teaching Council (NTC).
TRAINING IN STANDARD BASED CURRICULUM (SBC) AND COMMON CORE PROGRAMME (CCP)
Continuous Professional Development (CPD) workshops were organized by GNACOPS in WA, Kumasi, and Greater Accra to train 3762 teachers with the knowledge to implement the Standards-Based Curriculum (SBC) and Common Core Programme (CCP).
COLLABORATION AND TECHNICAL WORKING SESSIONS WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION
- GNACOPS actively participated in the SHS/SHTS Curriculum Reform Seminar organized by the Ministry of Education and NaCCA.
- GNACOPS participated in Technical Working Sessions organized by the Ministry of Education and NTC on various ongoing reforms in education.
WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION
GNACOPS celebrated World Teachers Day and organized impactful visits to private schools, expressing gratitude to teachers for their dedication and hard work.
WORKSHOP ON CONTENT DEVELOPMENT FOR REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE FOR PRIVATE SCHOOLS
An 8-day workshop was organized by GNACOPS which was sponsored by USAID and Opportunity International to develop Regulatory and Compliance Content for the training Private Schools Owners and Managers in the Northern Region.
VII. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
- Comprehensive Coverage at GAEC Breast Cancer Awareness Walk:
As part of our commitment to health awareness, GNACOPS Media took part in the GAEC Breast Cancer Awareness Walk. We covered the event comprehensively, highlighting the importance of breast cancer awareness and supporting the cause for early detection and prevention. Our participation in such initiatives underscores our dedication to social responsibility and community health. - GNACOPS Visits Mepe in the Volta North Tongu Region:
In response to unforeseen circumstances, GNACOPS extended a helping hand to the community of Mepe in North Tongu in the Volta region. The community faced challenges amidst water spillage. GNACOPS, understanding the urgency of the situation, visited Mepe with a donation. This act of compassion aimed to provide immediate relief and support to those affected, embodying our commitment to stand by our communities in times of need.
WORKSHOP ON CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK DEVELOPMENT
A transformative 5-day workshop was organized by GNACOPS which was sponsored by USAID and Opportunity International to develop a Curriculum Framework for the private education sector.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Minister for Education, Hon. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Deputy Minister for Education, Hon. Gifty Twum-Ampofo, the Inspector General of Schools (NaSIA), Dr Haggar Hilda Ampadu and Officer-in-charge of Private Education at the Pre-Tertiary Directorate in the Ministry of Education, Madam Rose Sam for their invaluable contributions. Their dedication and leadership have been instrumental in the success of the Educational Leadership Summit.

The sponsorship by the Ministry of Finance further highlights the government’s dedication to advancing education and nurturing a cadre of highly skilled and qualified education professionals. As members of the private school community, we are forever grateful for the support by the Ministry of Finance and their commitment to the advancement of education stands as a testament to the collaborative spirit that drives positive change in the private education sector.

GNACOPS Anticipates a Thrilling 2024: Embarking on Exciting Initiatives
As we embark on the year 2024, GNACOPS has exciting plans to elevate further and strengthen our private education community. Activities Line-Up are:
- Education TV Launch:
The Council is proud to announce the initiative of its Education TV, serving as a medium for communication and information dissemination. - Full Opalization of GNACOPS Credit Union:
Aiming to alleviate financial burdens, GNACOPS will fully operationalize its credit union for the benefit of its members. - Free Leadership and Curriculum Training in Northern Regions:
Through support from USAID, Opportunity International, and GNACOPS, private schools in the North will be offered free leadership and curriculum training for school leaders. - Scholarship Program for Needy Children:
GNACOPS is initiating a scholarship program to support and empower needy children, ensuring access to quality education. - Sports Project in Collaboration with Kay Sport:
GNACOPS is excited to announce a fully packed sports project in collaboration with Kay Sport, enhancing physical education within private schools. - Educational Summit 2024: Reloading for Excellence in Education
