Biography of
Mr Enoch Kwasi Gyetuah
Executive Director of GNACOPS
Mr. Enoch Kwasi Gyetuah, affectionately known as Obenfo Gyetuah, hails from Asokore, a small town in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Born to cocoa farming parents, Opanin Kwame Tuah and Mary Gyetuah, his early years were marked by a determined pursuit of education.
Early Education and Challenges
Mr. Gyetuah’s family later relocated to Siana village in Ahafo Goaso, where he began his primary education.
Even at the tender age of six, he undertook a daily journey of nearly two hours to reach school, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to learning. His relentless dedication to academics was evident as he consistently topped his classes.
Following his father’s move to Dantano, Mr Gyetuah joined him in his hometown, hoping for improved education prospects. Hardships and difficulties marked life in Dantano. He endured severe maltreatment, which included strenuous farm work and household chores. The demands of these responsibilities began to take a toll on his academic performance.
In 1999, after completing his Junior Secondary School (JHS) education, Mr. Gyetuah made the courageous decision to relocate to Gabiagyi, Ivory Coast, to live with his brother. As a foreigner, he had to support himself through activities like tapping and selling palm wine, ak-peteshie, and local soaps. Over the course of three years, Mr. Gyetuah engaged in various trades. Yet, his enduring dream was to pursue further education. He wrote the Common Entrance Examination in Ivory Coast and, through his determination, successfully put himself through secondary school.
In 2004, the Ivorian civil war erupted, compelling him to flee and seek refuge in Burkina Faso.
It was in Burkina Faso that he gained post-secondary education at a polytechnic institution.
Return to Ghana and Pursuit of Education
In 2006, he returned to Ghana to dispel rumours of his demise in the Ivorian war and start a cement paper transportation business. Subsequently, he secured employment at Alliance Française in Kumasi and decided to resettle in Ghana. He pursued further education, graduating as a General Arts student from Kibi Secondary Technical in 2008.
Educational Pursuits
Mr. Gyetuah continued to hone his proficiency in the French language, studying in Gabon.
He later pursued a Master in French Language and an MPhil in Educational Leadership and Corporate Governance from Omar Bongo University and Harvard University, respectively.
In 2010, while undertaking his distant education, Mr Gyetuah ventured into private education as a teacher at Peace and Love School. He authored French textbooks for primary and JHS students and became the headteacher at Peace and Love School.
He further taught and headed the Great Vision Educational Complex before becoming an educational consultant in 2012.
